Trial Run - Sandbanks in May... and new plans

I started out with an earlier blog that describe my plans and how both dogs, Harnett and Molly would be coming along with me for the duration of my road trip this summer.  Well all three of us made it to Sandbanks driving my VW wagon with teardrop in tow - test run really for the longer journey out West this summer.  It was great, but I came to the conclusion after much lament that Harnett would be happier with my neighbours who have been such great dog minders in the past and love him!  The old guy at 13 years, might not enjoy the hot weather, long ride and over zealous antics of my other companion, Molly - just on the cusp of turning a year old.  So now just Molly and I for the 6 weeks I am planning on the road.

So Sandbanks was grand! Was able tovisit friends living in Prince Edward County - John and Brenda, and Doug and Rose - a real bonus to the trip.  Cooler weather mid-May with two dogs in the teardrop with me - it was warm!  Luckily the fans in the cab of the trailer will be working for the hotter weather.  The teardrop is now rigged up with a solar charged battery to run the fans and any small devices that may need recharging etc.  Camp stove is now securely connected up to a fuel source in the back galley, new wheels and tires, and even a new trailer jack that will make moving the trailer around a campsite that much easier... I suck at backing up the trailer so I suspect a lot of maneuvering of my rig will happen after I detach it from the back end of my car.

This is a solo flight so I am counting on connecting with people as I go - data now on my phone with emails etc, and phone access Canada wide... don't be surprised if I call you out of the blue.

A few snaps from my Sandbanks trip... just the beginning.  I leave for out west soon.

in two weeks.
This is the blog I stared with... some thoughts about Harnett and Molly included. http://dogshavemyback.blogspot.ca/
